This is an individual chapter of Theory of Constraints Handbook. This chapter presents the Constraint Management Model (CMM) as a basis for development and deployment of strategy for commercial for-profit, not-for-profit, and government organizations. The CMM combines the strengths of the Logical Thinking Process (LTP) and the OODA loop conceived by John Boyd.
The OODA loop as a framework guiding planning and action is explained in detail. The LTP as a system and environmental analysis tool is presented in the context of the OODA loop as a means of rapidly creating, deploying, and adjusting strategy in a dynamic, rapidly changing world. Examples of applying the OODA loop and the LTP in a strategic setting are provided.

About the Authors:
James F. Cox III, Ph.D, CFPIM, CIRM, holds TOCICO certifications in all disciplines. He is a Jonah's Jonah, Professor Emeritus, and was the Robert O. Arnold Professor of Business in the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. Dr. Cox has written three books on TOC.
John Schleier holds TOCICO certifications in all disciplines. He was President and Chief Operating Officer of the Mortgage Services Division of Alltel, Inc., Executive Vice President of Computer Power, Inc., and Director of Office Systems and Data Delivery for IBM.
