Teaching the world to think

An excerpt of the "Introduction to the first edition of The Goal" by Eliyahu M. Goldratt

â€¦ I view science as nothing more than an understanding of the way the world is and why it is that wayâ€¦. Understanding of our world is not something to be pursued for its own sake, however. Knowledge should be pursued, I believe, to make our world better - to make life more fulfillingâ€¦

â€¦ I wanted to show that we can all be outstanding scientists. The secret of being a good scientist, I believe, lies not in our brain power. We have enough. We simply need to look at reality and think logically and precisely about inconsistencies, between what we see and deduce and the way things are done. This challenging of basic assumptions is essential to breakthroughs. â€¦

Progress in understanding requires that we challenge basic assumption about how the world is and why it is that way. If we can better understand our world and the principles that govern it, I suspect all our lives will be betterâ€¦

The TOCICO board wishes to honor Dr. Goldratt's commitment to ever flourishing TOC knowledge and the TOCICO by announcing its intent to form the Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt charitable foundation. This foundation will fund fellowships in applied research for the practical application and advancement of knowledge of the theory of constraints. Dr. Goldratt's life goal was to teach the world to think. The foundation would continue his work and fund the development and recognition of the next big ideas.

TOC for Education is a 501c3 non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing thinking tools that are simple enough for children and profound enough for the educators who lead them. Managing the Theory of Constraints Way (ManTOC) | top

This 9 month programme aims at developing people's ability to facilitate the delivery of real results with TOC through focused improvement projects that will make an impact on the bottom line. The objective is to develop deep TOC undestanding and a real time business application that can potentially deliver improvements and financial benefits.

Over the duration of the programme, the participants shall work on bringing tangible improvements in their areas of responsability and undertake assessment to be declared as certified TOC Practitioner. As a TOC Practitioner, htey will be able to deliver all the general TOC education that would be required to facilitate implementation of improvement projects with relevant material supplied by Goldratt Schools.

The Odyssey Program

This program is aimed at helping attendees develop and apply critical thinking skills to discover the cause-effect patterns, generic conflicts and assumptions that limit success in the various aspects of their life (e.g. wealth, health and happiness) and discover how to practically break these conflicts in ways that do not have any major negatives and or major implementation obstacles.

Location: San Jose, California, USA

The Odyssey this year will take place in San Jose State University (SJSU), the oldest and one of the most prestigious universities in California, set in the heart of Silicon Valley.
